Butane vs Propane vs IsoButane Stoves

Image
What are the differences between butane, propane and isobutane camping stoves? The difference is the type of fuel used by the camping stoves.  Each fuel has its own characteristics that work better in certain situations.  The size of the fuel canisters also plays a role to determine the best type of camping stove for the situation. Butane: Most commonly available in 8 oz canisters, the butane canisters are long and narrow.  They look like cans of spray paint.  Due to the size, most butane portable stoves are in the small to medium size range.  Portable butane stoves are also popular in Asian hot pot restaurants to keep a pot of boiling water at the table.  Butane fuel canisters are readily available and affordable.  These fuel canisters are not refillable and have issues operating in colder temperatures.  An e xample of camping stoves that use butane fuel is  the Gas ONE Portable Butane Gas Stove . Propane: Propane is a fuel that can be used for more than camping stoves.  Propane fuel

Bulin Foldable Windshield for Camping Stove

Image
Review: The  Bulin Foldable Windshield for Camping Stoves is a lightweight, fold-able solution to improve the cooking experience.  Most portable camping stoves such as the MSR Pocket Rocket 2 or the Terra Hiker Backpack Stove perform poorly when there are strong winds.  The wind will constantly blow out the flame, stopping the cooking process. That's where having a windshield will help.  The Bulin windshield folds out to create a barrier around the camping stove, improving performance and efficiency of the stove.  This windshield has built-in pegs that can be inserted into the ground for added stability.   Unfolded and laid flat, the windshield covers 26.7" x 9.4" (68 x 24 cm) and weighs 7.4 oz (210 g).  The length is fine for small camping stoves, but may not fully surround all camping stoves.  Pros: Lightweight and fold-able Ground pegs for increased stability Cons: Short length may not fully surround all camping stoves
