Esbit Ultralight Folding Stove with Pocket Tablets

Image
Review: The Esbit Ultralight Folding Stove with Pocket Tablets is a compact, ultralight folding pocket stove that burns solid fuel tablets.  When closed, this folding pocket stove measures 5.2" x 3.8" x 1.5" and weighs a little over 6 oz.  With the included twelve solid fuel tablets, the total weight is 12.7 oz. This folding stove burns solid  fuel tablets  to provide a cooking flame.  During transport and storage, the fuel cubes can be placed inside the stove to save space.  The fuel cubes tend to emit a foul smell, so a ziplock bag is recommended to seal off the fuel cubes.  The Esbit folding stove includes twelve solid fuel tablets. To operate, simply open the stove, place a fuel tablet into the center, and light the fuel tablet.  It is recommended to use a lighter or match to light the fuel tablets as a flint stick might not be enough. Pros: Compact and lightweight Included fuel tablets store neatly inside the stove Cons: Fuel cubes on...

Coleman Gas Camping Stove | Classic Propane Stove, 2 Burner

Image
Review: Coleman has been in the business for 100 years and it shows with the Coleman Classic Propane Stove . The stove comes with two burners--each with their own adjustable flame knob--and adjustable wind blocking panels. When not in use, the wind panels fold in and the top folds down to form a carry case. A recess at the top can be used as a handle for ease of carry. The camping stove measures at 4.1" x 21.9" x 13.7" (10.4cm x 55.6cm x 34.8cm)  and weighs in at 4 ounces. The cooking surface area measures out to be approximately 20" x 10" (50.8cm x 24.4cm). Each burner can put out 10,000 BTU of cooking power.  The burners are pressure controlled to produce a consistent flame in all climates.   The stove is rated to be operational for an hour at high heat when attached to a 16.4 oz propane tank. If that is not enough, a larger tank can be attached with the recommended purchase of the Coleman High Pressure Propane Hose Adapter . Pros: Adjustable burners. Wind pr...

Ohuhu Stainless Steel Wood Burning Camping Stove

Image
Review: The Ohuhu Stainless Steel Wood Burning Camping Stove is light weight and smartly designed. With the grill on, the stove acts as a barbecue. With the three prong holder in place, cooking can be done. The stove can handle a wide variety of fuel sources--twigs, leaves, pinecones, wood, and alcohol tablets. The fire is strong possibly due to the air vents below pushing oxygen into the flame. The Ohuhu Wood Burning Camping Stove measures out to be  5.3 x 5.3 x 6.1 inches and weighs in at 12.8 ounces. When folded down for travel in the included mesh bag, the package is measured to be  5.3 x 5.3 x 3 inches.  There are slight differences in setup depending on the type of fuel source used and the type of cooking to be done. Put the stove chamber on the bottom vents, then add the stove base plate. This is the point where the natural fuel can be added and lit.  If the fuel are solidified alcohol, put down the solidified alcohol plate first before adding the tablets. Th...

Review: The Redcamp Stainless Steel Wood Burning Camping Stove is a great lightweight stove. The straightforward design makes setup easy. The fuel the stove accepts runs the gamut. It can be fed leaves, twigs, wood, coal, solid fuel tablets and gas. The walls of the stove has three levels where the pins can be slid into which will adjust the heat. There is an opening in front where more fuel can be added as needed. The Redcamp Stainless Steel Wood Burning Camping Stove measures at  8.3 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches in its unfolded state. In its folded state, it measures out to be 8.3 x 5.9 x 1.5 inches. A carry bag comes withe stove which makes it great for travel. When first receiving the stove, be aware to peel off the blue film protecting the stove from scratches. Depending on luck, this may take quite awhile as the blue film gets stuck in the various hinges and grooves. To setup, unfold the main square and stand it up. Slide the two pins into one of the three set of pinholes. Place the g...

Fire-Maple Fixed Star 2 Personal Cooking System

Image
Review: The Fire-Maple "Fixed-Star 2" Personal Cooking System is a convenient, self-contained cooking system for camping and travel.  The Fixed-Star 2 cooking system bares similarity with the Jetboil personal cooking system  such as the heat exchanger and nested design but at a lower cost. The heat exchanger is a key design element that helps keep the heat directed at the cooking cup.  This design element improves the efficiency and performance of the travel stove.  The built-in Piezo ignition makes it easy to light the stove. The Fire-Maple system includes a pot support stand and a protective drawstring bag.  The included 1 liter anodized aluminum cooking container has a handle for use while cooking but also doubles as a locking handle for transport as the camping stove, built-in ignition, pot support stand, stabilizer and fuel canister can all fit inside the cooking container. Pros: Components store neatly in the cooking container Fast and effic...
